Mike Jackson is director of the Office of Discipleship & Family Ministry for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
Mike and his wife, Lyn, came to the State Board of Missions from Birmingham where he had served as pastor for almost 18 years.
They are the proud parents of two grown daughters (Heather and Ashley) and one son (Aaron) who is deceased. They have the joy of being the grandparents of one grandson, Coleton.

Ministry Experience: pastor, Eastside Baptist Church, Birmingham (January 1987-September 2004); associate pastor/minister of youth, Southside Baptist Church, Southside, Etowah Association (April 1982-January 1987); minister of youth, Bridgedale Baptist Church, Merairie, La. (February 1980-October 1981); minister of youth, First Baptist Church, Palmerdale (November 1977-August 1979).
Denominational Service: Served as a member of the State Board of Missions (1998-2004), Executive Committee of SBOM (2001-2004), vice moderator of Birmingham Baptist Association (2003-2004), president of Birmingham Baptist Minister’s Conference (1997), board of directors for Alabama Citizens Action Program (ALCAP), district coordinator (District 11) for the Alabama Baptist Eagle (Mentoring) Network.
Community Service: chaplain, Birmingham Police Department; chaplain, Medical Center East Hospital volunteer, Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Training: Parenting By Grace, Marriage Enrichment, School of Evangelism and Church Growth (HMB/NAMB), Stephen Olford Center for Biblical Preaching, CWT, FAITH, People Sharing Jesus, Intentional Evangelism and numerous courses from the Alabama Baptist Center for Leadership Development.

We need to trust that the LORD calls us away for renewal before facing other challenges just as with the prophets in the old testament and Jesus in the new testament.
