Christian believers speak different languages and live in various cultural circumstances, but Christ is our brother and we are all God's children. We are all part of God's family. Each one of us shares God’s love, acceptance, and forgiveness. Though we may not be able to communicate in words, the same song is written on each of our hearts. We sing with joy as Psalm 100 says: “Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come into His presence with singing” (Psalm 100:1-2). We sing wonderful hymns of praise and worship.
Annemarie and I collect ancient small hymn and praise books in various languages that express the historical praise to God throughout the ages. We compose or listen to Christian music that reflect these books.
Psalms call us to praise God at all times and throughout the day. We draw closer to God so as to feel God’s strong presence. We don’t have to have perfect voices so as to sing with joy. Christ in our hearts expresses total dependence on God. Singing praises to God directs our hearts and minds in the midst of problems, so that God will guide us.
Jesus is “The True Note” who tells us in the middle of the night, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Many of us have attended symphony orchestra concerts, when lights are dimmed, the concertmaster comes out, receives applause, then sounds one note: "A," on the violin. Each section then tunes their instruments to the note sounded. The entire orchestra is then in tune with the concertmaster and with one another.
Jesus Christ is God incarnate in human form. God’s image is first played and displayed in the world's stage through His teachings, life, death, and resurrection. His essence sounds the true note so that we might live and work together . . . so that we may bring loving union with each other and God. He creates and performs the real and eternal for our immolation of Truth in our lives.
Dear Heavenly Father teach us to celebrate our differences and to love each other the way you love. Write the music of love in each of our hearts so that peace is no longer doubtful or turbulent in our lives. We are Your “Christian Musicians” who live in this world with many voices offering real answers to each other’s needs. Jesus speaks “the Truth” and we "tune" our lives to Him so as to create beautiful symphonies of love in this world. In the songfest name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
