070814 Tuesday Prayer Breakfast with Dr. R. Lawson Bryan


Dr R. Lawson Bryan is currently the senior pastor at First United Methodist Church of Montgomery, Alabama. His pastoral history is as follows:

1975—Associate Pastor, Trinity UMC, Opelika, AL.
1976—Pastor, Hiland Park UMC, Panama City, FL.
1980—Pastor, Dexter Avenue UMC, Montgomery, AL.
1986—Pastor, First UMC, Brewton, AL.
1990—Pastor, Ashland Place UMC, Mobile, AL.
1997—Pastor, First UMC, Dothan, AL.
2007—Pastor, First UMC, Montgomery, AL.

Lawson was born in Quincy, Florida, and was raised in Bainbridge, Georgia and Dothan, Alabama. Growing up in Dothan he attended Selma Street Elementary School, Young Junior High School and graduated from Dothan High School in 1968. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, graduating in 1972 with a B.S. in Biology. He then attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, graduating in 1975 with a Master of Divinity degree; from 1980--85. Lawson was enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program, graduating in 1985 with a D. Min. degree.

Dr. Bryan is married to Sherrill O. Cooper of Thomaston, Alabama. Sherrill has used her creative talents to serve the church and the community in every city in which they have lived. Their son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Sarah Kay, live in Birmingham.
