070318 Luke 15:1-3 and 13-32 Message at Dulcimer Festival
This message, which was later given with appropriate variations for the congregation, was given to the annual (3rd weekend in March) Gunter-Hill dulcimer festival hosted by the Montgomery Dulcimer Players Association. Pastor Ron Smith was made an honorary member of this MDPA after singing with them the previous evening and during this Sunday morning worship service.
As with all their regular meetings (1st and 3rd Thursdays @ 7:00 p.m. St. Paul Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall. 4475 Atlanta Highway Montgomery, AL 36109) instruments played included Dulcimer, Hammered Dulcimer, Fiddle, Banjo, Stand Up Bass and Guitar. DAA and DAD tunings are used on the mountain dulcimer. Beginners are welcome as well as folks that like to listen, enjoy good music and fellowship. We jam a while, learn a song, break for refreshments and jam some more.
Royce & Darlene Slate (members of Dexter Ave. UMC) and Bob & Rose Taunton (featured earlier in this blog and podcast series in December 2006 and members of Tallessee UMC) along with President, Barbara Betts (heartstrings2@charter.net 334-277-9102) were responsible for inviting Pastor Ron and wife Annemarie.
The transcript to the message is in the next blog entry for the Dexter Ave. UMC given about 2 hours later.
The picture in this article is of the pavilion in which the worship service and all jam sessions took place.
